  Principal's Message

Summit Park Elementary School is committed to maintaining a tradition of excellence in education. We are dedicated to educating the whole child and attribute our history of achievement to high academic standards, an exceptional teaching staff, an effective values program, extensive community service projects, and our superb parental and community support.

Our primary focus in the early grades has been to develop our students into proficient readers and ensure their competencies in mathematics.  As a result, assessment data indicate that our students are doing a superb job of applying academic skills and processes in meaningful ways in order to meet or exceed all state and county standards.  Our student achievement goal is focused on reading in the content areas.  Utilizing strategic reading behaviors, our students are becoming self-sufficient, independent learners. We continue our focus on developing effective habits of mind such as organizational skills, study skills, accepting responsibility, and instilling the notion of pride in one's accomplishments. Challenging our students to be the very best they can be, preparing them for the future, and ensuring their success is of primary importance.

Our staff works together, both in grade level and vertical teams, to ensure consistency within and across the grades.  We are a learning community - teachers, students, administrators, and parents dedicated to continuous progress and personal growth to model our belief that the true value of education is to create life-long learners who find joy in the learning process.

I invite you to schedule a tour of our school to experience our invigorating learning environment. Thank you for your interest in Summit Park Elementary School.

Sincerely,

Diane Richmond
Principal
